The Elementary Education Graduate Certificate is designed for teachers interested in furthering their education or for teachers who are on alternative paths who need coursework to gain certification in the State of Oklahoma. The certificate can be completed fully online in one or two years. Among the topics covered include classroom management, elementary teaching practices and curriculum, current trends and issues in elementary education, and the development of elementary students.

At least 25 percent of the coursework applied to this certificate must be satisfactorily completed at NSU.

Student Learning Outcomes

  1. Evaluate elementary education classroom management practices 
  2. Investigate current teaching trends and issues in elementary education
  3. Analyze current teaching practices in relation to research in elementary education
  4. Collaborate with others to develop a positive classroom community
  5. Reflect on current teaching practices and child development to inform future teaching
